Final Thoughts...

Ah, the last day of WIA...What can I say? Honestly this has been the longest month ever, but that has more to do with the fact that it involved me waking up at 6 a.m. during my summer vacation. The program itself wasn't that bad. I finally learned how to use Photoshop, which was nice. But the best thing was probably all the friends I made. I bonded with people that I already knew, and met some new people that made this experience what it is. So tomorrow morning when I wake up at 6 out of habit, before I go back to sleep I'm going to almost miss this place. WIA, it's been nice.

What am I most proud of?

Honestly the thing I'm most proud of is my CD cover. I see random collages everywhere and I always wanted to make one but never could. Finally I did. I used pictures and words that inspire me, and I love it. You would think that I would be proud of my banquet invitation or my poster because the facilitators liked them the best, but that's because I made that stuff for them. The collage I made for me, therefore it's my favorite.

Three Commercials

Two words: Education Connection. The commercial to find online schooling. The awful song haunts my dreams, but I will give them credit for making a commercial so annoying that it sticks in your head. Get connected...FOR FREE! At Education Connection!

On the other hand, there's the Progressive auto insurance commercials. Flo is my BFF. She's very sunny and just loves her job. Most people find it annoying. It just makes me like the commercials. Some of them even make me laugh.

Then there's my all-time favorite commercial: FreeCreditReport.com. Every commercial has some catchy song that just gets stuck in your head for days, but in a good way. Not like that terrible Education Connection commercial. My friends have even gone as far as to get the songs for ringtones on their phones. I married my dream girl, I married my dream girl, but she didn't tell me her credit was bad...

If I could hang out with anyone for a day...

Hmm... Who do I pick? It can be anyone! How do I choose between my favorite actor, a comedian, an author, a dictator, a president, and inventor... So many possibilities. For the sake of time because I can't decide who I would really spend a day with, I will choose Johnny Depp. But only if I could bring along a friend because I've always wanted to watch her faint :P

Which career is best for me?

According to Career Crusing, I'm best suited to be a Website Designer. I would plan how websites would be laid out, how user-friendly it is, etc. It is recommended that I complete a post-secondary education program in computers and design. Starting out, I would make $15,000 a year. I'm not sure if I really would want to have this career, but it makes me think.

How was my weekend?

My weekend was extremely boring. I had to stay at my father's house like I do every other weekend. He lives in Mt. Clemens where I don't know anybody so I never leave the house. I pretty much just sat in my room all weekend playing with my ipod. Yesterday I went to my grandparents' house for dinner. That was pretty much the highlight of my weekend. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

PAYDAY!!!

First paycheck! What to do, what to do...Well first I'm going to put it into a bank account instead of cashing it. But that doesn't mean it's safe. Hopefully I'm getting a debit card. Once I get that I'm going shopping. I need school clothes and clothes for senior pictures. I have a feeling that none of my checks will last long.

If I were a billionaire...

Honestly, if I were to suddenly become a billionaire I would be very boring with my money. I would spend it on things I need first, then maybe spend some on myself if I really wanted something. See, first I would make sure I had enough money set aside for my college then put some money in a college fund for my future children. Then I would set aside some money for a house and a nice car, that way my future is set. I wouldn't buy a mansion or anything like that. Just nicer versions of the basic necessities. I would put a good deal of money in an account for my little brother, because having the issues that he does, my parents can't always afford to get him what he needs and I want to make sure he's taken care of. Finally I would put some in my retirement fund. With whatever is left I will buy myself things that I want (but nothing really big) and save the rest for my kids and emergencies. I mean, I don't want my future family to grow up spoiled but there's no reason for us to struggle if we have the money. If I'm still rich after everything I might even donate some of it. :)

Saint Clair County Community College (SC4)

The SC4 tour was interesting. It got off to a slow start so we spent a lot of time sitting in the lecture hall, but I learned some valuable information about financial aid and after the tour did get on its way I got to see most of the campus. There were only two things I didn't like: our tour guide lost his voice so I couldn't hear him, and it was really hot out so I didn't want to be out walking around.

My First Full Week at WIA

Well last week was my first full week in this program. It wasn't too bad...I got to work on my invitations which were selected to be the actual invitations to the summer luncheon. So that was nice. I'm really starting to get the hang of Photoshop, which makes me feel accomplished. But sadly the one thing that stands out about my week is that I am so TIRED. I'm not used to getting up at 6:00 and to be honest I'm not too happy about that. My lack of energy makes the week go by very slow so even though this was only my first full week, it feels like I've been here and will be here for months. Hopefully I will get used to this schedule soon so I can be more enthusiastic about what I'm doing.

My Plans for This Weekend

Ah, this weekend...How do I begin to describe my excitement for this weekend? Because my parents are divorced usually I have to stay with my father every other weekend and this weekend is his. But my boyfriend's graduation party is Saturday so I get to stay home to go to that. Tonight I'm just going to get all my chores out of the way, babysit my little brother, and probably read a book. Tomorrow I'm going to my boyfriend's house early to help his mom get the everything set up, then IT'S PARTY TIME! Sunday I will probably have more chores to do, and maybe hang out with some friends. It all really depends on what my parents (that is, my mother and my stepdad) will let me do. So it should be a good weekend.

How do I want to be remembered?

Honestly I don't know how to answer this question. Some people want to be remembered for some skill, some for something funny that they did, and some simply for their personality. But I don't know what sets me apart. What about me is memorable? If this weren't such a small class I probably wouldn't be remembered at all because I'm the kind of person who purposely fades into the background. I guess I just want to be remembered in a positive way. I don't want to be "that annoying girl" or "the suck up" or anything like that. I just want to be me. I want to be remembered for who I am, not what I have or haven't done. Otherwise, I guess I would be better off just being forgotten.

Summer Luncheon Invitation

Winc

I wasn't happy with my old Winc logo so I didn't end up saving it. This is the new one I made, which is the same basic layout but looks a little nicer.

If I had to hire someone...

The top five things I would look for would be:
1) Good work ethic. I don't want a suck up but I want someone that will do their job and do it well.
2) A good attitude. I want someone who genuinely wants to be there even if it's not the best job. I want my employees to take pride in their work; then I will know that they will do their job well.
3) Clean cut dress and grooming. I don't want my employees looking like slobs. They are representatives of my business and I don't want my business to get a reputation as being unprofessional.
4) A "team player." Although I want each individual employee to do their own work and do it well, I don't want it to be every man for himself. Depending on the actual job, one mistake can snowball and bring the whole company down. I want my employees to work together to make things work. Honestly if someone doesn't work well with others and he or she only looks out for themselves then there's no place for them at my company. I don't expect everybody to get along, but to put those conflicts aside for the sake of their work. All for one and one for all.
5) Honesty. Now I don't mean that the person shouldn't have a filter on what they say. Some things are just inappropriate to say at work and I expect all of my employees to know that. I'm saying that I don't want someone to sit there and do nothing, taking credit for someone else's work, or watch someone do something that could potentially harm my business and not say anything. I want my employees to look out for the best interest of my business.

The Third Picture

This is my third photoshop picture. Like the picture of the finger star, I made the photo black and white then overlayed it with color.

3 Photoshop Pictures

With this first picture I actually took a photo of a group of my friends and I photoshopped another friend into it. She was camping so she was sad that she missed the bonfire that we were at. See the girl in the bottom right corner? That's her.

With this picture I took a photo of my friends and I making a star with our fingers and, after making it black and white, I overlayed it with different colors.
I forgot to save the third picture so I will re-create it then upload it later.

Three Logos

The assignment technically is to find 3 logos in a career that we like, then we must upload them and explain why we picked them. Honestly, I am completely clueless about careers. I don't know which ones I am interested in. So I just picked logos of things I like.

89x is my favorite radio station. It's entertaining and plays a lot of music that I like. I even like the blocks of time that they spend talking. I guess radio would be an interesting job to have.
_____________________________________

Disney. Where do I even begin? Disney movies, Disney shows, even Disney World and Disney Land. From animation to music to amusement parks this company does it all. I grew up on Disney. Working there would be a dream come true, even if it just means walking around in a Mickey Mouse costume.
_______________________________________
Who wouldnt' want to be a super hero? It's the coolest job ever and one that every kid dreams of having at one point or another.

What is WIA to me?

I'm honestly not entirely sure how to answer this question. I guess to me WIA is a job. It provides me with money for things that my parents unfortunately can't afford to get me. But it's also more than that. The program is helping me learn things about myself like where I want to go to college and what I want to do with my life. It's preparing me for the future.
